



The James House Williamson Award
The James House Williamson Award was established to honor the memory of James House Williamson who served as the permanent secretary of the Tennessee Industrial Personnel Conference now the Tennessee State Joint Human Resources Conference from 1939 until his death in 1953. In all of his professional work and, more particularly, through his service to industry as Secretary of the Conference, he contributed significantly to the development of sound industrial management and industrial personnel practices in Tennessee and neighboring states.
Purpose of the Award
The purpose of the award is to stimulate the development of sound human resources management in all of its various phases and publicly to recognize the work of those who have made significant contributions to this effort.
Eligibility for Award
All persons nominated shall have made significant contributions to one or more of the various phases of human resources management in the State of Tennessee. The award will consist of a specially-designed plaque.
Presentation
The award shall be announced and presented at the annual State HR Conference by the last awardee of the honor, or a person designated by the Executive Director of THRC. The recipient shall be unknown prior to that time.
Nominations
Nomination are normally submitted by area representatives but may be submitted by any person who participates in the activities of the Tennessee Human Resources/SHRM Conference. All nominations must be in writing in the approved nomination format, must include a complete biographical sketch, and must present a detailed evaluation of the nominee's special contribution to the development of human resources management. A call for nominations is distributed to Tennessee SHRM Chapters each spring and nominations are submitted in a sealed package addressed to the Executive Director, THRC by the annual announced deadline.

The HR Professional Excellence Award The HR Professional Excellence Award presented by the SHRM Tennessee State Council, recognizes contributions to the Human Resource Profession by any HR Professional working in the State of Tennessee. Nominations for the award are accepted each year until the month of August. Awards are presented during the Annual Tennessee Human Resources Conference.
Consider the following when submitting written nominations:
Service to the Chapter Service to the HR Profession Service to the Community Professional History Selection of award recipients will be made by a panel of consisting of SHRM TN State Council members. Only the committee will know the identity of each year's honorees until the presentation of the awards. Leadership, committee participation, support of chapter activities, attendance, etc.
SHRM leadership roles at the state, regional or national level, leadership roles in other HR professional organizations, volunteer activities that increase awareness of and reflect favorably on the role of HR professionals, innovations in HR practices, acting as a resource to peers, mentoring students or young professionals, publications, research, teaching, etc.
Civic or service organization involvement.
Education, experience, work history, record of professional growth, professional certification.
